As long as he was alive, Jenine couldn't ever be truly mine. And that was when I had a change of heart. Luca had to go. He had to die. ******* Karl's POV “Do you need some time off again, Karl?” I shuddered snapping out of my reverie. “No, alpha.” “Good. Because there's no time for any of that. The lunar eclipse is tomorrow.” I knew already. And I knew Orchid was planning something too. “Are we patrolling tomorrow?” Ferguson caressed his jaw. “That would be an ill-advised move. Without the moon, our warriors would be powerless. Sending them out would be fatal if they were to come under attack.”

“Look, Luna! I’m a fire wolf!” Another tackles him, shouting, “No, I’m the fire wolf!” Lily joins in, her shrill giggle piercing the night. “No fighting, or you’ll lose your resilience!” Even in my anxiety, I can’t help but chuckle. * * * The first night of the Lunar Eclipse is the most joyous. The celebration is a kaleidoscope of sensations. The scent of burning incense, the aromas of roasted game, and spiced cider fill the air, mingling with the sweetness of honey cakes. Elders share stories of past eclipses, their voices rich with nostalgia. Young couples exchange tokens of love beneath the glowing moon.

I described the dream, the faceless opponent, the moon covering the sun, causing total darkness on earth. Makarius pulled out his phone, frowned at the screen, then looked at me with concern. "Tomorrow’s a total eclipse, Victoria," he said softly," and it's more than just a celestial event-it's tied to your dreams." "Yeah, well," I said, my hands trembling, "I can’t lose you, Makarius. I’m scared." "Victoria, breathe. It’s just a dream." "No," I snapped, sharper than I meant to. "It’s not just a dream. I can feel it."

“Companion, explain yourself!” “Relax!” I said, my face turning toward his without meaning to. “Just because this world doesn’t have magic doesn’t mean we can’t predict things.” I held up my phone, but he didn’t seem to understand what it was. “Your hour marker?” “At the moment, it’s my calendar,” I replied. “The next lunar eclipse is in fifty-seven days. And this time, it’ll be a total eclipse.” “That little magic box predicted that?” “That’s not magic—it’s science.”

He's been hunting lunar wolves for three hundred years. He won't pass up the chance at two of us during a lunar eclipse." I looked up at the moon. The shadow was beginning to creep across its surface. "The eclipse will be total in about an hour. If Thaltos is coming, it'll be soon." We waited in tense silence. Minutes crawled past. The eclipse advanced. The clearing grew darker as the moonlight faded.

Luna interrupted, her voice filled with concern as she looked at Andrew. “Not every wolf, but your dad is especially vulnerable during a lunar eclipse,” Andrew replied, his heart sinking at the thought of his father’s safety. Luna’s eyes widened in fear as she realized the gravity of the situation, and they both knew they had to act quickly to protect him. “How do you know about London when my dad’s brother doesn’t know about it?” Luna asked, her voice trembling with worry.

She coughed violently, cutting herself off, her body trembling in their arms. “Before then, what?” one elder demanded, his tone sharp with urgency. But Luna Tilly didn’t answer. Her strength failed her, and she slipped into unconsciousness. Alpha Aidan cursed under his breath, his panic barely contained. “IS EVERYONE HERE DEAF!? Call all the pack doctors! Now!” As almost all warriors broke into a sprint, the weight of her cryptic words bore down on us. The lunar eclipse is tomorrow..
