(Sky’s POV) “That girl really messed up with your brain, huh?” Dad smiled as I asked Frank to stop the car on Heaven Avenue for the last time. “What if she doesn’t exist?” It had been two months, and I was like a lunatic still looking for her, yet I could not find her. What is the justification of heaven for making such a big joke? I asked for a miracle, not an ugly duckling who hid her true beauty and left a curse in my life like I could not give my whole heart to the woman I had been chasing for a long time.

I released her to save her from her own thoughts. "What happened wasn't your fault, Selene," I said earnestly. Selene looked me in the eyes fully now and the sorrow behind them was more apparent than ever. "Yes, it is, Tor," she said sadly. "Because it's me." My brow furrowed at her words. "What do you mean?" I asked. Selene squeezed her eyes shut and tears trickled down her cheeks. "I am the one born of the moon and of magic." Her voice was hardly a whisper as she confessed. "That's why the silver can affect me… because I am half shifter."

Her blood ran cold when she felt his touch tainting her skin. "Because a sinner is not afraid to commit any kind of sin, Miss Meier," he clarified all her doubts with his reply. Her breathing deepened by finding him so close to her. Leaning closer to her ear, he tightened his hold around her waist. "Just like I am not afraid of committing any kind of sin with you, cara mia," he whispered against her ear and then tenderly grazed his lips against her skin. Her body shuddered and filled with disgust at his touch.
