She wasn't as agile as the three young ladies still engrossed in the book a few feet away from her. Samira, Teagan and Alora were through with the book. It was only a two page book. They saw where Mirabel was and quickly went to meet her. "Seriously, I was expecting 30 pages from the book but only saw just 2, it didn't talk about the gate you talked about or the demon in my house." Samira said, showing her displeasure of the book she had high hopes on. "It didn't mention any sort of the Millennium Wolf and if it truly put them to sleep, like in a dead state." she added.

"Hey, isn't that the old book Rafe picked up in Singapore?" I was certain of it, and oddly, the wolf seemed to regard the book as a special object. It was as if magic was working in their favor. The little girl transformed from a lovely white wolf to a lovely little girl and began turning the pages of the book. It's almost like a regular ritual for them. "What's up with these folks?" I tried to sneak a peek at the girl, but something strange happened. The little girl turned to face me with a mysterious smile. Her gaze was fixed on my soul, as if she knew exactly where I was.

I used all my force and magic but it did not work. "Once you try to read the magical books then you cannot get out unless you read the book you came for", the spirit bird told me.

"Will you read me a story?" She nods, forcing a smile. "If you want. Which story would you like?" "Don't know. Your favourite." "Alright." She opens the book. It is tattered and worn, the binding ready to fail. Some pages from the back are missing and all are yellowed, crisping at the edges. The cover, battered and scraped as it is, is bright, in brilliant jewelled colours; an image of a prince in fine silks and a beautiful girl, riding a flying carpet over a magical city.

Every story has a beginning, some good, some bad, mine has never been a happy one, no matter who, or how I tell it, nobody will believe me. I can't rely on the people in my life, My parents ignore me, or are cruel to me, my friends are unreliable, and aren't trustworthy either. So what happens when I turn 16 years old, and run away from my problems to another world, only to find myself in the same magical world I played make belief in as a kid? With heartbreak at every turn, and a possible new relationship on the horizon, what could possibly go wrong in this world that hasn't happened to me on Earth?!

I took a long bath, curled up in my robe with a fire going, and lost myself in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Completely enjoying myself with the book and the fire, I lost all track of time. I put the book down to reach for my can of soda and caught the reflection in the window of someone standing behind my sofa. I jumped and screamed, dropping my book on the floor as I leaped to my feet and whirled around. It took me a moment to realize it was Marsh standing there. With my heart pounding so hard I thought it might come out of my chest, I yelled at him, "Jesus Christ, Marsh! Why are you sneaking up on me? You scared the shit out of me!"

“This one is a collection of magical folktales.” “Thank you.” I settled into one of the deep armchairs near the window, legs tucked beneath me, book open on my lap. The stories were charming at first, about a clever djinn, star-crossed lovers, and talking camels, but midway through, a restless hunger gnawed at my stomach that had nothing to do with food. “Mirabelle, could you get me something to snack on?” I called softly. “Maybe fruit, or those little almond pastries if they’re fresh?”

Towards the back, I found more crystals and among them was the high-rank mana accumulator I was looking for. On my way to buy it, I noticed they had a small section of different books for sale. As I looked at what was for sale, I saw they were all to do with magic. Apart from one of them, one was a book on parenting, 'Babies first fire, a new parents guide for newborns. Is this a magic shop or a baby store? I'm glad Larry can't see what book I'm looking at; I just know he would tease me again if he knew...'

I raised an eyebrow at his story, still not understanding its relevance. "One day the man and the woman had a baby girl. But this girl was no ordinary girl. She was special," he said, inspecting his nails casually. Then his eyes lifted to mine. "She was one born of magic, and of the moon." Shock ripped through my body at his words, but I schooled my face into neutrality. "And what does this fairytale have to do with me?" I asked. Damion burst out laughing and slapped his knee. Within an instant, he had shoved himself off of the stool and dropped down on his knees in front of me so that we were eye to eye.
