Before I could speak, the doors opened wide. A man stepped in. Tall, broad shoulders, his cloak frayed from travel. Scars crossed his arms, his jaw heavy with age and exile. The guards bristled, but he raised his hand slow. “I ask no fight,” he said, his voice deep and raw. “I am Magnus. Once Alpha of Redfang. Cast out, betrayed. I seek shelter… and truth.” Gasps spread. Magnus. A name I had heard only in whispers, a wolf cursed for war crimes long past. Why here? Why now?

The guard opened the door gesturing for us to enter. “These two have requested to speak with you, sir.” They said, stepping out of our way. Revealing a short man, no taller than a child. His ears were perfectly pointed, his teeth sharp, and his eyes black as he narrowed them on us. This man wasn’t a man at all. He was a gremlin. He looked between Apollo and me before dismissing the guard. “Listen Graug. I have customers I need to attend to. Figure out why Maggie won’t talk to you on your own. You clearly did something stupid to piss her off.” He laughed.

"You betrayed us?" Ruben's grip on his blade tightened, his eyes narrowing at Magnus. "How could you do this to us? We trusted you!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with a mix of anger and hurt. Magnus's eyes gleamed with a twisted sense of righteousness. "You know nothing of true power, Thalia. I have discovered a path that leads to ultimate strength and dominance. Alpha Hawk was merely a steppingstone in my quest for greatness," he sneered, his words dripping with arrogance. Thalia's heart sank as she realised the extent of Magnus's betrayal; her faith in him was shattered in an instant.
