They were milky, fading.
"Is she... intact?" Julius wheezed.
"She's alive," Magnus said. "That's all that matters."
Magnus turned to Vargo.
"Strap her down," Magnus ordered. "Prep the transfusion lines."
"Wait!" I scrambled backward, hitting the leg of a surgical table. "You can't do this! Kaelen is coming! The pack knows!"
"Let them come," Magnus said, stripping off his torn jacket and rolling up his sleeves. He grabbed a scalpel from a tray. "By the time they breach the gates, I will be immortal, and you will be a husk."
