Several female entities—some with scaled skin that caught the torchlight like precious gems, others with features so ethereally beautiful they hurt to look upon—cast hungry glances his way. One, with skin like opalescent pearl, started toward him, her nakedness a weapon in itself. Steve met her gaze with a coldness that stopped her advance. His mind conjured Emma's face, and he clung to that image like a drowning man to driftwood.
"I am somewhat offended by your restraint," Grimkeeper said, twirling a goblet of wine between long, pale fingers. "Are my women not to your liking?"
