"That still doesn't mean she belongs here." I spoke before Beckett could. "Then I'll leave." Beckett turned toward me. "No, you won't." I looked at him, "You already did enough." "You saved my life. I am not sending you back onto that road." He turned to Ben. "I owe her." Ben's jaw tightened as he looked at me again. "What exactly can you do?" "I'm a healer," I said. "I can treat wounds, illnesses, fevers, injuries. I can help."

Sheila turned to look at them, her expression blank. "Who are you all, and how did I end up here?" she asked, her voice trembling. "Well, you had an accident and was brought here..." Doctor Clemson began. "Doctor, please stop talking. My head hurts like hell," Sheila cut him off, her eyes closing in pain. Doctor Clemson nervously asked Sheila if she could remember anything about her friends or family but Sheila, holding her head in tears, replied that her head hurt badly and begged for help. Alexander then turned to the doctor and told him her name is Sheila.

I watched every move it took until it vanished completely from my hands. “Woa…” my mouth hung open as I stared at my hands, turning them around to have a better look at them. The fog left my hands without a scratch, without blemish as though they weren’t bruised a few minutes ago. They looked like they often did whenever I had my bath but a lot better, they looked new and just then, it occurred to me that I might have just had my wish granted and my powers given. “A healer, really?” I asked, smiling with pride but my smile fell all too sudden, “What if I am only able to heal myself?”

She exclaimed, her eyes wide. "Is it that bad?" I asked and looked down at my legs just to discover that my skin was torn and I could already see my flesh. I exclaimed loudly, my voice echoing through the whole dark forest. "Oh my gosh!" The pain suddenly electrified my whole body as my eyes found it. My breathing became uneven as I looked at my leg. I managed to swim out of the river with that. Serena pushed my head back down on the grass. "Take a deep breath," she told me as she began to twist and make shapes with her hands. "I will heal your wounds."

I growled in protest but even an Alpha cannot interfere with the healer's domain. Howling in frustration, my pack offers up their voices in a chorus to give me strength. My heir is fighting to enter this world and all I can do is wait, feeling helpless as the tormenting sounds of Alyssa's struggle continue without end. Finally, just as the moon reaches its peak, the healer emerges with a small bundle in her arms. Her eyes meet mine and she smiles. "You have a daughter, Alpha."

He mixed a vial of his blood with a dark brown liquid, and placed a droplet of it on my tongue. Clement was a decorated healer who traveled the world, someone who knew more than a kingdom combined. He was the only other healer I had met besides myself and my sister, and I vehemently begged him to teach me after he saved my life. Due to the rarity of our species, he did. The old woman great me with pleasure. She's one of the two Healers residing here in SilverMoon pack. Kayden patiently waiting until Imelda finished her work and excused herself. Rixa’s jaw tightened at that, her fingers pressing into her own arms. “And he entered Jay’s body,” the healer continued. “Jay knows him. Knows how he thinks. Knows how he moves.” Jay’s expression darkened. “So the three of you joining hands,” the healer finished, “gives you a chance to win.” Silence hung heavy between us. “It’s just me,” the healer added quietly, almost as if he didn’t want credit. I looked from him to Jay. Jay stepped forward slowly. “I’m here because I want to help you,” he said.

"That's good. It's not easy raising a pup alone. I always thought you were a single mother." I smiled faintly. I wasn't before, but soon I would be one. "Megan Cross, you're the most skilled healer we have. Without you, the common folk won't have anyone to treat them. They can't afford the fees of the nobles' healers." Emily glanced at the patients lying nearby and sighed. I gave a helpless smile and turned to leave the healer's tent—only to run straight into Alpha King Jason Boone of the Northern Realm and Princess Bailey Shaw of the Silvermoon Pack. They were both visiting injured warriors.

Just as we neared the cab, I heard the mansion door slam shut, the sound echoing ominously. I stopped in my tracks, sensing Ellis flinch beside me. I already knew who it was. Steeling myself, I turned around. There he stood—a wounded man. Not physically, though. His casual clothes were fine, and while he was upset, there were no visible injuries. But I could see it—the pain, the inner turmoil. He was bleeding internally, emotionally. His anguish was palpable, and it explained the oppressive sadness surrounding this place. Alexandria whimpered in my mind, recognizing his wolf’s pain. We knew it all too well.
