Myron asks, smiling, his expression curious.
“Careful with that man, Myron,” I reply, catching my breath, “Seems like he took a bath in gasoline before stepping out.”
Myron makes an elaborate, mocking show of sniffing at the man. He shakes his head. “Last time I checked, there's no law that says a man can't smell like that.”
He laughs. The men sitting around laugh too. Even the man I was pursuing chuckles, and now I get a good look at his face. He has a thick welt running across his face from the top of his nose to a point near his left ear.
