Scouts have seen unfamiliar scents old bloodlines claimed lost centuries ago.” Mara frowned. “The Midnight Pack? That’s Aurora’s birthlands.”

The fragment adjusted again. Mirroring. Not perfectly. But close enough to feel invasive. Ardyn’s voice came through tense. “We’re seeing adaptive latency reduction. It’s responding faster each cycle.” Mara withdrew entirely. The fragment dissipated. Not defeated. Satisfied. Back in council, the air felt different. Not panicked. Strategic. “If it’s modeling Mara,” Kael said, “then we need to remove the constant variable.” Serik’s eyes snapped toward him. “She is not stepping away.”

He tried to release himself by holding Raven's leg but his powers were declining with the smoke. “Surrender Alpha Marcus, Your era is over”. He threatened while looking over the other Alpha’s who were supporting Raven. Marcus took his courage and push Raven back from his leg. Raven falls back but gets on his foot again. Marcus again changed his avatar into a ferocious wolf and ready himself to attach Raven again, who was ready to revert to his every action. “It’s not easy to beat Marcus Ferguson. You need a thousand births to finish my era”. Marcus replies with arrogance and orders his pack to attack them.

Aldrich clenched his jaw tightly even though she was right. “Mara, you're weak right now.” “No,” she corrected stubbornly. “We are stronger together.” For a brief second, Aldrich simply stared at her and then slowly, despite the chaos around them, he nodded. Without another word, they turned back toward the battlefield side by side and together they fought. The war continued brutally for hours until midnight approached. Mara's powers destroyed every soldier that came near her while Aldrich tore through enemies mercilessly beside her.
