He was telling me about his parents' cabin out of town and how beautiful the lake was in the summer. "Sounds beautiful," I commented. "I would love to see it," I said, dripping with sarcasm. I don't want to see that! "See what?" came a deep voice behind me. Ugh, Nathaniel. Here for trouble as usual. "My cabin," Mark replied, while I smartly retorted, "Mind your own business." I wasn't about to give this guy any ideas. "You look angry, Caroline," Nathaniel chimed in, his voice laced with a dangerous undertone. "Maybe you should cool off a bit."

Xavier: I sat looking at the man who had given me his daughter years ago for an alliance. His eyes meeting mine, studying my expression, wanting to play the game of cards. “I trust that you came here with something to tell me, Marcus.” I said, raising an eyebrow. “Alpha Xavier, I did not think that the two of us weren't on first name basis.” he said, his tone smooth but empty. “I appreciate you seeing me. I would’ve preferred my daughter greeted me first, but I understand she’s… preoccupied. It seems that she has been that way for a while now. I called her but she rarely ever answers.”
