Nathan replies, earning himself a glare from Dara in my defense. “I swear to the Goddess, Nathan, if you ever decide to switch the team you bat for, I’ll marry you in a heartbeat if you make this at least weekly,” I say, shoving another bit in my mouth and moaning obnoxiously as I suck the spoon clean. Nathan blows me an overly dramatic kiss. At the tiniest groan from his wolf boyfriend, Nathan turns to Marc and pulls him in for a proper kiss. “I only have eyes for you,” Nathan tells Marc.

A massive man who looked like he could bench-press a car, covered in tattoos, wearing a leather jacket that had seen better days. "Miss Morgan," Nathaniel said, standing up. "This is Marcus Rivera. I mentioned him yesterday." The terrifying man offered his hand. "Nice to meet you. Nathan says you're writing a story about him."

His eyes darted from Alyssa to the mysterious woman, searching for answers. Nathaniel's expression shifted subtly as he broached the topic, a mix of curiosity and guarded intrigue playing across his features. His usual calm demeanor bore a hint of contemplation, as if carefully weighing his words before speaking. I could sense his reluctance to delve into a potentially sensitive topic, yet his curiosity urged him forward. "Xavier," Nathaniel began, his voice measured yet tinged with curiosity, "have you noticed how Alyssa resembles... that woman?" His gaze met mine through mindlink, searching for a reaction, perhaps anticipating surprise or recognition.

It read *Now we are even* Mardin scrunched the note in anger. He had never felt so angry before. He didn't know Xavier had the capability of doing something like this. The death of Nathan triggered him. But Martin didn't care if he went too far in killing Nathan. What he cared about was ending Xavier and his wife completely.

"You've been staring at that glass for twenty minutes. If you wanted to drink alone, you could've stayed home." Nathaniel took a long swig, the liquid felt like it was burning his throat. "I think I might have….. misjudged things regarding her." Marcus raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Things? You mean Elara?" "Both…especially Elaea" Nathaniel muttered. He looked away, his eyes tracking a woman on the dance floor who had the same height as Elara. But he shook himself out of those thoughts, reminding himself that Elara wasn't even there.

She grinned. “Which one?” Maribell asked, certain that she wrote under a pseudonym. “Marcus Howitzer.” Margo said, grinning. “You’re Marcus Howitzer?” She asked wide eyed. “The Marcus Howitzer?” “Yes and you can’t tell a soul!” Margo hissed, looking around the room. “It’s just Marcus is one of the most celebrated authors around! And you’re Marcus?!” Maribell said, nearly squealing. “That’s the true purpose of the NDA.”

“But for now he's stable.” “Can I see him,” I asked, my voice barely audible. “You can see him in the next few minutes,” he said. I nodded but tears were already sliding down my face. I didn't even try to stop them. Beside me, Harris exhaled deeply, rubbing a hand over his face like the weight of the world had just been lifted. But mine hadn't, because Nathaniel was still out there. I wiped my tears and straightened, as my anger returned. That's when Harris said quietly, “I'll speak to the administration. Marcus's identity has to be confidential. No one can know he's Mattoe twin.”

Of course, before she can even finish her sentence our moment is interrupted by one of my warriors as his voice fills my head through the link. “Alpha. We've found a girl on our lands. She claims not to be a Rogue and doesn't smell like one either but, she's refusing to tell us her name. Said she'll only speak to you. We weren't sure if we should take her to the cells or not because of our guests.” Nathen is a fairly new warrior but already he's proving to be a good one, but right now, I just want to knock him the fuck out for ruining the moment.

“And that it not going to happen if you are all fighting like a bunch of rats in some pod.” His expression shifted. Nathan glanced at me, curious but not surprised. “Marcel is unstable,” I continued quietly. “Dominic stands between him and destruction. The council is restless. Rogues are hungry. Packs are divided. And as far as the rumor goes, your little rogue has managed to contain a beast that would be more than willing to take over if Marcel simply ticked.” I stepped closer, my voice lowering. “All it takes is one thread to snap… and everything unravels.”
