I look down, ignoring the awkwardness between Linda, Mother, and I.
"Now that that's settled, we can eat in peace and discuss some things," Mother wipes her mouth with a table napkin.
"I think we should wait to say anything important when they return, don't you think so, Linda?" I chip in.
She looks at me, then Mother before saying, "It doesn't matter."
She's always been a sucker to Mother like that's not her fucking sister-in-law, huge age gap or not, the fear is unreasonable.
"Liam, what's the whole business with the Marco Giovanni and Serena Moretti scandal?" She asks, facing me squarely.
