The one speaking was tall, fair-skinned like many Vampires I’ve learned about, with sunken eyes so dark they could be shadows. The other men weren’t much different. Some were more bulk in build, some shorter. But they all had one thing in common; they had a feral sense of their posture. Then Mariana stepped out. She looked different from them. Her complexion was darker, obviously of Hispanic descent. A thought clicked in my head at the sight of her. Khalid’s talisman is in Mexico.
