What is this? Malakar howls once more and then he falls back onto the stretcher. His entire body goes limp. He's passed out from the pain. The two men beside him turn to stare at me again. My entire body is shaking. I don't want to be here anymore. I want to leave. I turn on my heel and make to run away, but Talon stops me. He looks at me with imploring eyes. "He needs your help. Please?" I can't ignore the desperation in his eyes. I am a doctor after all.

Somehow I don’t believe him, but I kept my mouth sealed shut. Thirty more minutes later, we hear the doors bang and we both shoot to our feet at the sound. The beautiful doctor came to us, making Karissa growl again. Ignoring my wolf’s apparent annoyance towards this stranger, I stepped forward. ‘’Alpha, the surgery is complete.’’ she said. Her voice sounded sweet and graceful to the ears. ‘’How is he, Doctor Rach?’’ Alpha asked, making me all but snap my eyes to him. Eyebrows raised.

A small building that surely can’t cater for the entire pack, there must be a hospital nearer to the palace. Alpha walks in with a Doctor gesturing for me to follow. I’m assuming he is a doctor judging by his white medical coat and folder in his hands. I do as I am told, as does lycan three. Is he my shadow all of a sudden? I walk into the room which is equipped with everything a medical facility would need. The Doctor, who oddly is wearing glasses, gestures for me to sit on the bed. “Hi Aida, I’m Doctor Wessex, let’s look at your shoulder?” He leans into me and pokes around with my shoulder.

The Doctor swallowed hard, then nodded quickly. The Doctor turned around and left Jasper Kent. It would be best if he didn't look for trouble at all. Jasper Kent's expression turned scary when he threatened like that. The Doctor then chose to report to his chief of resident, Doctor Ethan Vandross. Doctor Vandross is the same Doctor who treated Gabriel Xander and Evangeline Alexander. After the incident where he was forced to come by Cheyne Ludacris to the Xander Enterprise, he never heard anything about Gabriel Xander or Eva Alexander. However, today, he got the unusual report.

Today, when he had to see her, he still had to encounter that unfortunate woman. To make it all worse, she also seemed to be a doctor in this hospital. That means he'd be seeing her more often. Doctor Chase had recovered from the minor breakdown so he proceeded to meet Ashley at her office. He was already ten minutes late. He knocked briefly on the door and was called to enter. As soon as he walked in, he sighted the elegantly looking woman who let her chestnut brown hair flow freely slightly below her shoulders, wearing glasses and putting on the most serious looking face while operating the MacBook in front of her.

He closed his eyes, and the air escaped him like a muffled sob. “Can I see her? Please,” he asked, and his voice came out so small, so shattered, it sounded like a lost child. The doctor studied him for a moment, then nodded. “One minute. Put on the gown and cap. Take it slow. You don’t look well, Dr. Medina.” They helped him into the green gown, cap, and mask. I saw his hands shaking as they dressed him, as if he were preparing to enter a private battle he could no longer escape. Before going in, he turned toward me.

At least we managed to save her leg from being amputated and now she can start healing from this horrible ordeal. “Good job, Dr. Ross!” I jerk as my assisting doctor, Dr. Martin, slaps his large hand on my shoulder. I inwardly cringe at his close presence but I turn to him with a smile that I hope doesn’t show how much I want to run away. He is always touching me, placing a hand on my shoulder, rubbing my neck, following me around with a hand on the small of my back. Nothing too offensive but uncomfortable. I have spoken to him about it but he doesn’t seem to have understood that I have a need for large personal space.

I hear a knock on the door and look up as Zack walks in. “Princess Willow, the doctor would like to see you!” He takes in my dishevelled hair and exhausted appearance. I stand up and lead us out of the room. We walk to the pack medical centre and I meet Doctor Gibson outside Dad’s room. “Miss Willow thank you for coming.” Doctor Gibson greets me. Zack stands behind me and Thomas no doubt having been mind-linked by the Delta, walks toward us. The doctor ushers us into the privacy of his office and shuts the door.

I had my charm and it still works, perhaps she was the only soul that it was yet to work on. When the door opened, the Doctor was led into the room by one of the cleaning ladies. This was a different doctor, it wasn't my Doctor, probably a replacement doctor who was called in last minute to tend to my wound and so he had to hurry over here hearing that I just got shot and needed medical help.

A blank space where something important should be. I tried to sit up, but my body felt disconnected, sluggish. My arms moved like they were underwater, and there was something wrong with my mouth. Cotton-dry, metallic aftertaste. Sedated. The realization hit me with crystal clarity even as my thoughts remained fuzzy around the edges. "Easy, Mrs. Savage. Don't try to move too quickly." The voice made my blood freeze. Dr. Chen—Wakes's personal physician, the one who'd treated my "accidents" with discretion for three years. The one who'd never asked why I needed stitches or pain medication, just smiled and prescribed whatever would heal the evidence fastest.
