Despite everything, we decided to stay in the city for the night. After some thought, Kays decided it was already late and we wouldn’t get far before the next stop to spend the night. Encountering “problems” out in the open or in the middle of the forest at night was very risky and could lead to sudden danger and helplessness. So, we would stay here and set off first thing in the morning, moving away from this town called Dredel in the kingdom of Zergedia.

The only obstacle was crossing a river. Eve stared at me, her eyes full of helplessness. "But I don’t know how to swim." I lowered my gaze and whispered, "I’ve hidden a small boat in the cornfield. I had secretly repaired it and stashed it in the cornfield when no one was watching. Eve’s eyes lit up.

The day passed slowly till my luck ran out and I met them again. "Aria?" I heard a voice call me. It was Andrea, Alex's mother. Beside her were Alex and some from the pack. When they saw my hair, they paused. "You look different," Andrea said. I noticed she looked thinner than before. I wondered if it had anything to do with the fact that my mate's clan, the Night Clan, had been suppressing them recently. "It's good we have found you. Do you know how worried Alex was?" She asked me, and I raised a brow and glanced at Alex. Worried? I doubt it.

They both have kept their differences to ourselves for the sake of it, but it is still a bit of tense at times seeing how both of them are Alphas and protective over the same person, Serenity. CHARITY POV Andrew and I are looking over the map in the makeshift war room. We’re strategizing and finding the best advantage points, and any traps that waits for us. The beta of New Moon is in the middle of an explanation when Matt blows in, rage in his bright blue irises. “Andrew, leave,” he growls, his chest heaving, his eyes shifting between black and their normal color. Andrew’s eyes slide between us, concern in his frown lines, but he doesn’t say more, leaving without a word.

We make our way down to the first floor and Matt approaches us with a worried look on his face. “Matt? What happened?” I asked. “I don’t know how it happened, but Diane escaped, Alpha.”

It was enough to remind me that she was watching, always watching. I hurried back to my room, my heart pounding. If I wanted to escape, I would have to be careful. I would have to plan. I couldn’t just run not with Damien’s men stationed at every exit, not with guards circling the grounds like wolves. I would need timing, distraction, something that would draw their attention away long enough for me to vanish. But the more I thought about it, the more impossible it seemed. Where would I go? Matthias was out there, waiting. Damien’s empire stretched further than I could imagine. And I had no money, no allies, no one to trust.
