Beryl was sweeping her hair up into a bun, the way she did every time she was done with any project, “Same! I’m excited for the rest of the term.”
Daryl laughed again before handing her friend a bottle of water, “Let’s not expect the same for the entire future already.”
“Why not?” Beryl unscrewed the bottle’s cap and took a sip, “It’s a good thing to hope for.”
“Sure,” Daryl nodded, beginning to walk with her friend to the stairs, “But we can’t be sure things will stay great all the time!”
Beryl glared at her friend, “Daryl Weathers, don’t say things like that and jinx our term!”
