Philomela offered from behind, and Tristan simply flung a disdainful snort at the skald over his shoulder before marching onwards.
Wind blew across the forest, the branches of the trees creaking and moaning. Another sound joined the mix, a peculiar hollow clacking that made my skin crawl.
“What is that?”
Tristan extended a hand, and I followed the line of sight to the source. Bones had been hung as wind chimes from the trees, femurs, and ribs banging against one another to produce an awful melody.
“Philomela’s wolfpack enjoys decorating, it seems,” Tristan murmured, placing a hand on his horse’s shoulder as the animal shield away from the dreadful artwork.
My mare snorted loudly,
