Adam pov I woke up too slowly. That was the first thing that felt wrong. I didn’t snap awake or sit up with my hand already reaching for my phone. I didn’t hear a sound in the hallway and come back to myself with my heart running before my brain caught up. I opened my eyes like a normal person, blinking at the ceiling, my body heavy against the mattress. At first, I didn’t move and then I sat up fast. The room was too bright. I grabbed my phone from the nightstand and checked the time. My fingers stopped around the screen. Ten hours. I stared at it, that wasn’t possible.
