SUBMITTING TO MY FATHER’S DRIVER
They had no idea they were preparing a funeral dressed up as a fairy tale.
The dress I was currently wearing was the fifth one today, it was a luxurious ivory satin creation with a deep V-neckline, delicate lace appliqués, and a long, flowing train that would look stunning against the lavender fields of Provence. It was beautiful, and expensive. It was the kind of dress most girls dreamed about wearing on the happiest day of their lives. To me, it felt like a shroud.
Adrian sat in the corner of the room, exactly where my father had ordered him to be. He was supposed to observe every fitting, every detail of my wedding, as part of his punishment.
