She removed two books from the drawer and handed them to Kathy. “Have you lost it?” Kathy asked, throwing the books on the table. It was one thing to read books, but to read such crap, Kathy was not sure what to think or say to Melanie. “Love corrects all mistakes by Geena Jakes,’ Melanie read one of the titles aloud as if her sister had not seen it. “I’m not doing this,” Kathy said, storming out of the room. She hadn’t expected her sister to suggest such an outrageous plan to correct the boy. She wasn’t one to make people like her, and she wasn’t about to start doing it.

The three of them rushed in, carrying hundreds of my books. 0_0? Oh God. “I’ll be the first!” “No! Me first!” “No! Me!” Coreen and Eliana kept shouting. “Why you? I must be first!” “Wait! She already signed some of your books, so it’s my turn!” “Hmmp! Not done yet! There’s more!” “STOP!” Melanie yelled. They immediately stopped arguing and looked at her. “Girls, stop it. Will you?” she said seriously. The three of us blinked.

Maxine The sound of my heels clicking against the cold stone floor echoes through the dimly lit corridors as I make my way deeper into the hidden depths of the palace. Each step feels heavier than the last, the weight of my plans pressing on me, demanding my full attention. My mind races as I recall the conversation I had earlier with Marcus. The alliance between him, Selena, and myself is growing stronger, but there's something else that gnaws at me—Melanie. That damn woman. Her very existence stands as a barrier between me and the power I crave, and every moment that passes, the more I feel the pressure to destroy her.

When I said it, I didn’t want her to be able to find any reason to question it. Until then, I planned to do everything I could to show her that nothing mattered to me more than her and her happiness. Melanie’s car was parked a few spaces down from mine, but she wasn’t waiting for me outside. I walked in and found her near the back, looking at books in the nonfiction section. “Looking for something to read?” I asked, shoving my hands in my pockets as I stood beside her. She shrugged. “I love self-help books. A lot of them repeat the same information, but it makes me feel like I’m getting my life together every time.”

Xavier i’m surprised to find Melanie sitting at the kitchen island when I come downstairs. I’ve worked out, showered, and done a couple of hours of work at my desk but it’s still only ten in the morning. Melanie almost never gets up before noon. “Good morning,” I say civilly. “Coffee?” “Please.” She widens her eyes emphatically. “I’ve missed good coffee.” I don’t take the bait. I don’t ask more about her life in New Mexico or why she didn’t have good coffee, I don’t even return her smile. I just load up the Nespresso and pour two cups.

She paused for a minute and didn’t think it was something strange, their were clothes lying around the room, she scoffed in discomfort bending to pick them up and pile them back in to the drawer when a book feel off from a nearby table, she has mistakenly hit the table. Melanie slowly bent down and picked it up, she couldn’t help not opening it, flipping one page after another, the words written in it caught her attention, she moved slowly to a chair and sat quietly, it was her diary, things she read from it didn’t sound pleasant to her ears, tears crawled out of her eyes as she continued to read, quickly she wiped them off and heed the book under some other books on the table when she heard

AN: Hey there! I just realised that I actually have people following this book and I've been a little bit sketchy with my recent updates; I'm sorry about that, been typing chappies with serious illness and I can barely even comprehend what I'm writing. I promise to edit when I feel better and I'll advice that y'all wait till then before reading as your eyes might twitch from all the typos you'll find. Seeing her limping steps, a small curve formed on her lips. "Good afternoon, Mrs. Martin." Susan gasped and looked back. "Oh, Mrs. Harper? You're home? How is your daughter? Is she better?" Melanie's smile almost turned cynical. She thought Susan's concern was not real. "Barbara is resting in her room. So, what are you doing here? Finished reading a book?" Susan shook her head gently. "No. I just finished tidying up the books." Melanie's eyebrows arched upwards. "The books you just read?"

Melinda Martin herself had published hundreds of best-selling books about the work, why it mattered, and how it could craft a brighter future for the country. “When the Martins arrived, they left immediately. They just told us to take care of their child. As per my workmate, Celestine, no one knew they had a child, so I wondered about it but thought they probably didn’t want the press to bug their daughter.
