Metal Gear Rising Novels & Stories

Evelynn POV The dawn burns blood-red over the horizon. It was the kind of sunrise that smells like smoke and endings. Engines growl to life one by one, the sound low and hungry, vibrating through the ground and straight into my bones. The air tastes like metal, oil, and anticipation. My leather jacket sticks to my skin, the scent of last night’s heat still clinging faintly to me. Even after shower. Rafe sits astride his bike, black and gleaming with dust and claw marks - the kind of machine built for war, not show. Calder adjusts his gloves beside him, quiet, focused, his gaze fixed on the horizon like he can already see the blood waiting there.

“I’m fine.” “You’re not,” he said. “You’re breaking.” Something in his voice was raw and desperate and nearly undid me. But I couldn’t afford to break. Not yet. Not when the Rift still waited. “We don’t have time for this,” I said, forcing steel into my tone. “The Tear Drop was only the first seal. There are three more before the Blood Moon rises. If we stop now, everything we’ve done and everything we’ve lost would mean nothing.” Riven sighed, scrubbing a hand through his hair. “She’s right, you know. Much as I hate it.”

“Down? Isn’t that closer to the core?” “It’s the only way that isn’t sealed.” My chest rose and fell too fast, but I followed him anyway. He went first, climbing quickly, and I followed close behind. The metal was cold under my fingers. The sound of my heartbeat echoed in my ears. Halfway down, a bright red light flared below us. The heat hit instantly. I froze, looking down. “Alexander,” I whispered. “Something’s moving.” He stopped and looked over his shoulder. Below us, something mechanical was rising—huge, covered in glowing lines, like a machine waking from a long sleep.

They were faster, stronger, trained warriors with wolves that could tear me apart in seconds. I pushed harder, my lungs screaming for air. Almost there. Almost.. I burst through the undergrowth and nearly collided with the ancient oak. My hands found the fence behind it, searching frantically for the weak point Marcus had described. There was a section where the metal had corroded, creating a gap just large enough for someone my size to squeeze through. I dropped to my knees and started forcing my way through the narrow opening. The jagged edges caught on my clothes, tearing fabric and scraping skin, but I didn't care. Behind me, the guards were getting closer.

Something heavier. Something designed to break through. We’re exposed instantly. “No more cover,” the system states. Maria’s grip tightens on my arm. “They’re escalating—” “I can see that.” The turrets reposition again. Closer. Lower. Deadlier. “Separate them,” the voice commands. And suddenly— the floor beneath me shifts. Panels sliding. Mechanisms activating. I feel it too late. “Leon—move!” I try— but the ground drops— fast—

Blood dyed the entire mountain red before everyone around me could realize what had happened. As the ceremony began, I appeared before the Gate to Heaven, staring coldly at the lively scene above. Step by step, I ascended the mountain peak. The stone stairs beneath my feet crumbled into dust with each step I took.

At first, nothing happened. Just darkness behind my eyelids and the steady warmth of moonlight on my face. Then images began to flicker—quick, senseless flashes. A man with blood-red eyes. Thaltos. The name came to me out of nowhere. He was the threat Kade had been preparing for. Elena, screaming. She was bound to something that looked like an altar. Silver light was being ripped out of her against her will. Kade and Damien fighting side by side, both covered in blood. They were fighting something I couldn’t see.

“Not until his head is on my table.” The override clicked. The door hissed open. I charged into the passage, gun raised, my men close behind. The narrow tunnel twisted downward, emergency lights flickering. Blood drops on the floor—Elias’s. We emerged into an underground garage. Vehicles. Escape routes. Elias was already climbing into an armored jeep, leg bleeding heavily, face twisted in rage and pain. I sprinted, firing shots that sparked off the armor. The engine roared to life. Elias looked back once, eyes meeting mine through the reinforced glass—pure hatred and something like triumph.

“It isn’t power. It isn’t ability. It’s everything they tried to bury, rising up.” I looked at Tomas, the woman kneeling beside him, the bowed wolves in the morning light. “Three hundred wolves are about to have moments just like this. They're all carrying something. They're all about to meet it.” Malek shook his head. “That’s not a weapon. The network thinks they’re getting a weapon.” “No,” I said. Rhydian’s phone buzzed and he glanced down, his expression shifting. “The figure, from the vehicle. They want to know if we’re still coming.”

" Ironclad Industries' members roared in unison, their morale surging. Meanwhile, Desmond opened the system interface, navigating to a familiar private message window — the mysterious seller trading in Blue Titanium Alloy. ... Inside the motorhome. The explosions outside raged on continuously, and though the vehicle stood rock-steady, the dense metallic impacts still transmitted through the armor, like countless iron hammers pounding against everyone's eardrums.
