“When the time comes, this will answer my call. Use it wisely.” The light swallowed everything. Nova awoke on the cold stone floor of the council chamber. Kilian was kneeling beside her, his hand steady on her shoulder, his eyes wide with fear. “Nova,” he breathed, “what happened?” Her voice trembled. “I saw her. The Moon Goddess.” He froze. “That’s a myth.” She met his gaze. “Not anymore.” The torchlight flickered across her skin, revealing the faint glow of a mark beneath her collarbone — the same crescent of silver flame. Kilian stared, speechless, awe and fear warring in his eyes.

His attention snapped back to him. “You’ve said enough.” The traitor smirked. “No… not yet.” His eyes moved back to Lyra. “She thinks this is a curse.” A pause. “It’s not.” Lyra’s chest tightened. “Then what is it?” she asked. The traitor’s smile widened. “It’s a claim.” Silence. Damon’s expression darkened instantly. “Watch your words.” But the man didn’t stop. “The Moon Goddess doesn’t mark just anyone,” he continued.
