Mr. Bennett took his time settling into his seat, adjusting his cuffs as he regarded me with a cool, calculating smile. “I’ve heard about your work, your business ventures, and… your struggles,” he began, his voice calm but with an edge that hinted he knew far more than he let on.
I frowned slightly, unsure of where this was going. “I appreciate your interest, but I’m not sure why I was called here tonight.”
The man smiled, leaning back in his chair. “I have a proposition for you, Mr. Monroe. One that I think will solve most, if not all, of your current problems.”
