Three figures emerged from the wreckage of the elevator. They were dressed in sleek, grey tactical suits that shimmered with a faint violet light. They didn’t have the heavy armour of the Board’s regular guards. They didn’t need it. One of them had a jagged piece of shrapnel embedded in his shoulder, but he didn’t even flinch. He just reached up, pulled it out, and dropped it on the floor.
His eyes were a solid, glowing violet.
“Target acquired,” the lead Enforcer said. His voice wasn’t human; it was a layered, metallic harmony that sounded like a dozen voices speaking at once.
