Inside, the air was thick with smoke and candlelight. Shadows clung to the corners, and the scent of spiced wine mingled with the metallic tang of blood.

I wonder if the artist ran out of patience, or simply found it too painful to finish.

As her blood stains the carved pendulum beneath her, the wind begins to swirl, and the dark beast's grunts and groans can be heard echoing around the cave they are safely tucked away in.

I heard my own voice tremble. "The alliance marriage is settled. Next week's ceremony will be an engagement party." He stated it like a fact—cold, clinical. "Black Moon needs access to Red Moon's Moonveil mines—the only source of the Feral Plague cure—and they need our military protection. It's a win-win."

The massive gates creaked open. Moon walked in with Rain on his back. Atam and the others followed in the carriages. Without delay, Moon rushed toward his section. Vegas and his mother followed, alongside Captain Caleb, Atam, and Malov...but they were all locked outside. Inside the dim, cold room, Moon placed Rain on the bed. Without thinking, he bit down on his neck. Blood flowed. Using his claws, he cut his palm and let his blood drip into the bite mark. "Please…" he begged, his vision blurring.
