Even Maera sat with her one evening on the wall, the elder’s cane beside her, old eyes sharp. “I used to dream too,” Maera said without preamble as Luna blinked away the last shreds of a sky-vision in which the stars had rearranged into snarling wolves. Luna turned. “You… did?” she asked. Maera snorted. “You think you were the first Alpha to have the Moon poke at their sleep?” she said. “She is not new at this.
