The Rule
She shook her head slowly, her voice carrying the warmth of unshaken faith.
“Can a mother forget her suckling child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? She may forget… yet I will not forget thee, saith the Lord.”
His gaze flickered, as though something within him wished to hope, but dared not yet.
“And if I have disobeyed,” he whispered, “to a depth where forgiveness no longer reaches?”
She did not flinch. “All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men, whether against the Father or the Son. But the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven.”
