She smiled. Held her hands tighter. “I adore you, Cynthia Sue. I do. Truly.” And with that they embraced. “I will never be lost. I will never be alone.” She squeezed her tight. “And there will be no trouble,” she then whispered against her friend’s cheek. “Only secrets.”
Cynthia Sue pulled back, the move gentle and apologetic. “Then trouble there will be,” she said with a long sigh.
