“This house is too small, Farkas,” she stated, her voice carrying that high-pitched sharpness that always signalled an argument brewing. “I have tolerated it long enough. It doesn’t suit me, and it certainly doesn’t reflect my status.”
I sighed, already weary of this conversation. “Esther, we’ve been through this. It’s a perfectly fine house—”
“For peasants, maybe!” she interrupted, throwing her hands up. “I refuse to live like this! Either your parents buy us a bigger house, or they move out. I can’t take it anymore!”
