“Ruby, I’m talking to you! Your husband is so rich. It’s fine if he lends some money to Liam!” Wendy saw that I was not answering her, so she moved to strike me. “Hey, stop fighting! You’re sisters.” My mother pulled Wendy aside and coaxed her. Then, she dragged me into the kitchen. “Ruby, she’s your younger sister. Just throw her a lifejacket, we can’t just let her suffer like that.” I sneered and recalled the night my first child had a high fever in the past. It was raining heavily, and I had walked to the hilltop mansion and begged Wendy to give me some money so I could bring my child to a doctor.
