The Don’s Blind Indulgence
I spotted a familiar silhouette in the crowd.
It was Juliana.
She stood outside the hospital in a black jacket, her face pale and her eyes vacant.
Her hair was disheveled, and her lips had barely any color. It was as if the life had been sucked right out of her.
The press tried to get a quote from her, but she pushed the camera away and bolted into the hospital.
I turned off the TV.
On the other end of the line, Vittoria uttered, “Did you see that, Alessia? Juliana’s man is shot. Apparently, he was embezzling the family funds, and someone snitched on him. The DiMaggios want him dead.”
