Though touching the bullet wound must have caused considerable pain, Valentine showed no signs of discomfort, simply watching what Eugene was doing. Eugene brought his blood-reddened fingers to his mouth and licked them. Still bitter, still sweet. Valentine, who had been quietly watching, took Eugene's fingers, put them in his own mouth, and licked them clean. Then he overlapped their lips. The kiss, filled with blood, was bitter and sweet.
