The silence that followed pressed in, thick and suffocating. Rose swallowed and lifted her head slowly. “What’s going on?” “Did you meet my brother?” I asked. For one brief second, everything stopped. Her breath caught. Her eyes widened just enough. Then she recovered. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said quickly. “Why would I meet someone who wants me dead?” A slow smile tugged at my lips as I stepped closer. “Careful, Rose.” My shadow fell over her. “I’m a werewolf. And I’m a mafia lord. Lies don’t survive long around me.”

Instead I thought of some reason that he wouldn't want to see me at work—like if I had spinal meningitis or hepatitis…"Well my doctor said that this…rash isn't contagious…as long as the pus stops draining from the sores. But if you really need me in I don't mind wearing gloves. And I can spray disinfectant just in case he's wrong and this stuff all over me is actually contagious. Well…I'll just call in later in the week. Bye." I hung up the phone contemplating how I would handle work, and something became clear to me. I believed that somehow I was coming back from this. I'm a Vampire. Why the hell am I worried about what to tell my boss? My death, unfortunately, superseded my ability to hold

He thought killing one of my employees and torturing the other would get him the information he desperately needs but this is all a lie. It does not matter how much torture he puts them through, they have been programmed to die for me and they will gladly do so. “Boss. Should we tell them to cut it off? You said to scare him." One of my workers asks. I take out a gun and point it at him“And if you do not want to lose your tongue then maybe you should not come to me with all your foolish suggestions." His eyes open in shock and he takes a few steps backward. “I am sorry boss." He apologizes.

Easton introduced me with several of the supernatural leaders of the clans, some businessmen who are well known in the world but in reality some of they are vampires and others. " I am getting so shocked over here and worrying for other human beings that are working under their vampire bosses without even them knowing that their boss is a human." I said with a chuckle and began to take the glass of champagne when Easton looked at me with a raised brow and a smirk on his face. " I don't think so you are allowed to drink that, milady." Easton said making me roll my eyes.

“He even gave me this today. Said it would protect me.” Lydia’s eyes sparkled as she looked at the pendant. “That’s beautiful! And thoughtful. Most bosses don’t give gifts like that. Are you two…?” “No!” I said quickly, waving my hands. “Nothing like that. He just said he wants to be friends. The pressure of work must have ruined her boss's sanity. The burden of leading a multinational company had caused Mr. King to suffer a psychological breakdown, hallucinating that he was a fictional monster from a trashy novel, and then somehow the man ended up naked on the roof of his own company's building before Nichole accidentally brought him home. Everything suddenly made sense! Her boss was a madman who needed a psychiatrist's help, not a mythical werewolf.
