She doesn't see why I can't be more understanding of her. All she wants to do is help Toby have a child to carry on his family name. The birth proceeds without me showing up to cause a scene. She smiles gladly when she sees the crying baby in the nurse's arms. She thinks to herself that if I visit her tomorrow, she is willing to forget all about our previous fights. She is even willing to let me be the baby's father. What she doesn't know is that I've already submitted my application to the Alliance of Nations. In seven days, I will be leaving the country to become a field doctor for the Frontline Medical Corp, a humanitarian organization. I won't be coming back ever again.

"Take that 68 grand as my final payment to you for raising me. We'll cut ties right here and now. In the future, don't ever come to me and ask me to support you when you grow old."

Catherine shrugged as she couldn't believe what she was hearing. Feeling overthrown, she stared at him dead serious in the eyes. "Stop spitting out nonsense, I need to go." "You don't believe me?" She pushed him hard enough for her to escape, but before she could reach the door, Ashton became successful in capturing her and pinning her against the wall. She couldn't believe what was happening, she could feel her own heart beating so loud, but the way his heart beat for her was even louder. And when their lips touched, it felt like there'd be no tomorrow. The way his tongue swiftly and smoothly moved inside of her mouth made her feel things. Catherine's eyes closed as she found herself pulling him in. "A-Are... are you really my mate?" Catherine whispered under her breath. "Are you still in denial?" Ashton replied. Catherine shook her head relentlessly. She went ahead and kissed him back which caught him off guard. "If you really are..." Catherine licked her lower lip. "... claim me now."

At the party, my daughter deliberately raises a question to my husband. "Daddy, since Ms. Lloyd is having your baby, does that mean we'll be living with her in the future?" He places the nicely cut steak onto my plate and answers softly, "Your mommy and I made a deal—whoever betrays first will disappear from the other's life. My eyes turn red-rimmed without him noticing. Little does he know, my hearing was restored a week ago. He doesn't realize I've learned about the mistress he's been hiding either. And he definitely doesn't know I've secretly bought a ticket to volunteer-teach in the Seru Plateau. All I have to do is wait for the paperwork to clear in seven days. Then, I'll disappear from his life for good.
