I rounded the house and was about to head to the market when I suddenly came face to face with my stepmother. "What are you doing here?" she screeched. "You know you're not allowed to leave the house without my permission." I froze. I didn't know what to say. I had been caught red-handed.

I smile at my family's happy faces, mom smiling as the movie begins, and my dad's eyes are filled with love and my heart sitting next to me. We’ll be one weird but loving family, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m looking forward to spending the rest of my life with my stepbrother.

"What do you want?" From nowhere, my stepmom showed up and landed a slap right on my face. "How dare you talk to my son that way?"
