I see people narrating their experiences but well for me, it was a little bit different or should I say awkward. It was with my guy best friend since 1st grade. His name is Charlie. My best friend Mary, and I have always been close with him. We’ve always trusted each other and told each other everything. We are so comfortable with each other that Charlie has witnessed me and Mary eating each other out. His brow furrows as he tries to remember. “There was one, um…about the six friends? Who all lived in apartments across a hall from each other? Three guys and three girls?” “Besties,” I say, immediately supplying the name of the old sitcom we’ve all watched a thousand times, smiling softly because I absolutely love that he loved this show.

A lot. Reid and Nolan, my two best friends, are also almost more like brothers to me. We’ve all known each other since we were born, and the four of us (Reid, Nolan, Sebastian, and me) spend pretty much all of our time together, outside of school at least, since Nolan and Sebastian are in different grades than Reid and I.

Five days later, the biggest problem in my life should have been the fact that my daughter had two best friends after four days of school, and I, her own mother, was only informed while doing her hair that morning. “Two?” Poppy nodded while chewing toast, her long bangs still only half brushed and one sock apparently missing in another dimension. “One best friend for art. One for lunch.” I stopped with the hairbrush in my hand. “Friendship has departments now?”

My best friends bade me good bye and left. “Yes, sir.”

"Nice to meet you," Collen quickly took my hands and shook them. My hands fell limp to my side. "Is everything okay?" Hannah asked, her green eyes searching mine. "Yeah, just that um, I was about to go to bed when you came," I lied through my teeth. My heart was beating not just within my chest but I could hear it in head. This was the first time I had lied to my best friend in all our twelve years of being friends. "Oh, I was hoping you could stay up with us to watch a movie."

“Because you threatened to knock on the door which is a way worse option.” A small look passed through his eyes. Not a smile. Something darker. “Good. Then you understand I don’t make empty threats.” The car felt too small. I could still remember his mouth on me. I could still remember the way he said my name last night. I hated that my body remembered it too. “This can’t happen again,” I said. “Then say it like you mean it.” “I do mean it.” He watched my mouth when I spoke. “You mean you’re going back to the man who put your best friend in your place??”

I'm no better than Will doing this to her, and yet, I can't help it. “And you’re not just being nice right now, Jaden.” My lips graze her ear. “Because if you were really mad at me, you wouldn’t have come in here with those tight pants on. You would have stayed in your room for the rest of the night where you should be. Let’s not start something we can’t finish. It would be a shame to lose my best friend because I want his little sister underneath me, and we both know, that can't happen,” I whisper.

I loved seeing how happy they were with the bonds because so was I. I could not begin to tell you how many times I was asked what it was like to have two mates. It was always interesting because they were two individual people. They were not carbon copies of each other. Grant and I really loved to bond over music. Gabriel and I loved to bond over cheesy action movies and comedic tragedies. It helped that we were best friends for our entire lives. There was no telling how hectic it would have been if I had found two different mates when I turned eighteen. That would probably be a nightmare. Luckily, it is not my nightmare.
