Each puzzle seemed to reveal a piece of the story, a story I was becoming a part of. The door slid open, and I stepped into a vast chamber. The walls were covered in even more elaborate murals, depicting the origins of the Moon Wolves. I could see images of the first wolves, their spirits bonded with the moon’s power, giving them strength, wisdom, and a deep connection to the night. The murals told of their battles, their triumphs, and their losses. I felt a deep sense of reverence as I walked through the chamber, absorbing the history that was unfolding before me.

Rafe is far richer than Faghri. Rafe replies in a sad voice, "I looked in the cave, but there's no sign of anyone. Then Rafe reminds Faghri of something strange they saw. "Remember when the black wolf disappeared?" he asks. They both saw a mysterious black wolf turn into a bunch of fireflies. Faghri, quiet for a moment, agrees with Rafe. He also saw the wolf turn into fireflies, which doesn't make sense. Even though Faghri doesn't usually believe in magic, he can't ignore what he saw with his own eyes.

I’d wait until I had a chance to ask them. We walked down a long entryway with white and black marble tile on the floor and plenty of golden framed paintings on either side of us, each depicting a different scene from the history of mages and shifters, I supposed. The few that I recognized were only familiar to me because I used to read a lot of fairy tales. When I saw one of a woman wearing a red cloak, standing in the forest with a wolf at her side, I raised an eyebrow. “Ah, yes! A Nightingale,” Maggie said, stopping and folding her hands in front of her. “Isn’t it lovely?”

Neu and Hikari then started it. Hikari started it by sketching a manga and Neu started to modify it to better meanwhile Nimura was watching over them and tell them if there was any problem. Makimi leans in to see what she was seeing and sees descriptive images of yokai stored on her phone. She scrolls through while reading their names.

“I mean… second time in two days. Same city, same me. The odds are statistically suspicious.” A muscle ticked in his jaw. “It’s a small island.” “New York? Small?” I laughed. “You’re joking.” He didn’t smile, but something in his eyes softened. Just a fraction. I tilted my head toward the paintings. “What do you think of these?” He glanced at the canvases like he was seeing them for the first time. “They’re loud.” “Loud,” I repeated, grinning. “That’s a good word for it. I think they’re screaming.”
