The air shifts again, colder this time, and water floods out from beneath me, pooling across the tiles.
The two elements crash together—fire and water, heat and cold—and the force knocks us both back. The hunter scrambles up, clearly terrified, and bolts for the door.
I stand there shaking, staring at the steam and scorch marks. The flames die. The water stays, rippling faintly like it’s alive.
My hands glow—one blue, one gold.
Footsteps thunder behind me. Nate flies out from my dorm room first, followed by Celeste and Luca.
“What the hell happened?” Nate demands, his eyes wide as he stares at my hands.
