It glows red. “Place your palm here,” he says. I do it. The stone flashes. And suddenly...I’m not in the forest anymore. I’m in a white room. A hospital room. I see myself...but younger. Maybe seventeen or eighteen. I look scared. Alone. My belly is round. I’m… pregnant. My eyes fill with tears. The younger me is crying. “I don’t want to give her up.” A woman in a coat replies, “You must. If you keep her, Morrana will find her. You’re not ready to protect her.”

The boy accepted the espresso from Nara with a nod of thanks before downing it in one gulp. “Well, now that he’s had his espresso, he’s right here.” The boy set the cup down and gave Miyoung a wink. She decided she didn’t trust this cocky boy. “You’re Junu?” Nara looked incredulous as she gave the boy a once-over. “Surprised?” He smiled warmly, unperturbed by Nara’s shock. “I just didn’t think you’d look like this,” Nara said. Miyoung had never known the shaman to be so blatantly rude, especially to someone senior.

As he tried to get back to his feet, I jumped on top of him and used my forearm to press against his neck, pinning him down. "You done now?" I demanded, flashing a victorious smile. "As you can see, you shouldn’t become overly cocky when in battle." ‘Get off of me!’ My younger self hissed through mindlink. "Are you going to stop trying to show your ass?" Instead of responding, he let out a grunt that I took as confirmation. "That’s a good boy." Letting out a chuckle, I stood up and waited as my younger self shifted back to his human form.
