Elara’s carefully built defenses bristled, yet a reckless, treacherous part of her leaned toward the heat in his tone.
She forced herself to shift the conversation, to anchor it in safer waters. “So that’s your tactic, blur the lines until I can’t tell if we’re negotiating contracts or… something else.”
Damon’s eyes held hers, unflinching. “I don’t blur lines, Elara. I erase them.”
The air between them tightened, charged, until the clatter of a nearby table briefly snapped her back. She exhaled slowly, steadying herself. “You’re playing a dangerous game.”
