He releases his grip on my mouth and forcefully spins me around to face him. This man is nothing like Thomas. His eyes are a deep shade of brown, and a scar runs across one of his eyebrows. His hand is grimy and covered in black grime, slicked back by natural grease, and I can detect the lingering smell of smoke on his breath. I pulled my phone out and called my father. I explained everything from the night before right up until now. I told him about Gideon being requested. I walked away from Jack and Amelia and told him about the connection I was feeling, and he told me not to worry. He would contact Evelyn and offer the full support of Carter and Sons.
