The afternoon sun was hot, shining straight into the big sitting room. Cassandra sat on the long white couch, her legs crossed, sipping juice slowly. She looked relaxed, her hair neatly packed, and her nails freshly done.
Vanessa sat beside her, scrolling through her phone. Her face carried that usual pride, like the world belonged to her. They had been talking about random things — business, fashion, and of course, Nathaniel.
Cassandra smiled faintly. “You know, sometimes I wonder what men really want. Nathaniel has everything, but he still works like his life depends on it.”
