SHANE I moved within the week to my new desk at the Synod Base where I am to begin to work on the new element they have been hiding. I sat down at my workstation where the blue like element has been concentrated, my eyes scanning the rows of equipment and data screens in front of me. My new project, codenamed The New Neuroxine, as they like to call it - was displayed in front of me, a complex web of moving raw element that I was determined to crack.

"Let's dig deeper into Project Elysium. ADA, can you hack into the system and gather more information?" ADA's response was immediate. "I'm accessing the files now. It appears Project Elysium is a top-secret research initiative focused on advanced neuroscience and artificial intelligence." Andrea's brow furrowed. "What kind of research?" ADA continued, "The files mention experiments with brain-computer interfaces, neural networks, and... consciousness transfer." David's eyes widened. "Consciousness transfer? Is that what happened to you, Andrea?" Andrea's eyes locked onto Dr. Kim's. "I think it's more than just a coincidence. We need to know what they're planning."

“Then how the hell did it get in there?” “That,” Nero said, his voice lowering like the calm before a hurricane, “is what I intend to find out.” And with that, he placed the chip on the desk, his amber eyes reflecting the tiny device that had turned his world inside out. “But I think I have a faint idea of what happened.”

Dust covering names erased long ago. The first lab. The air changed here. Colder. Cleaner. As if some systems still breathed. At the end of the corridor stood one final chamber. Open. White light spilling outward. Aurelia stepped inside. And stopped. Father stood beside a circular console at the center of the room. Above it floated a suspended neural projector—old, humming, unstable. Inside the transparent chamber glowed a small silver core. The stolen archive. But that was not what stopped her breathing.

I didn't care about his privacy; I cared about his life. What I found made my blood run cold. The "Quiet" he had built for me in the observatory—that wall of pure, human will he used to drown out the global static—hadn't been a gift. It had been a loan. A loan with a high interest rate. To shield my mind from the ghosts of a billion lives, Nevan had essentially inverted his own nervous system. He had turned his "Shield" protocols inside out, burning through his biological reserves to act as a human grounding wire for my sanity.

Nobody disagreed with him. They moved deeper. The corridor eventually opened into a massive underground maintenance area. The moment Natasha stepped inside, she stopped. Rows of containment chambers lined the walls. Glass tubes. Metal pods. Observation stations. Most were destroyed. But enough remained intact. And written on one of the pods were two words. PROJECT CERBERUS. The room became silent. Aaron read the label twice. "What is Cerberus?" Nobody knew. Then Nyra pointed toward another wall that contained hundreds of files.
