“You’ve been stalling.”
The Herald’s broken face twitches. A wet, choking sound bubbles out of him, something between a laugh and a death rattle. For a moment, I think that he might be amused. Then the muscles in his face twitch, and he gasps in pain.
“Tomorrow,” he continues, ignoring me, “the Final Game shall begin.”
The torches flare violently, casting warped shadows that stretch and twist across the walls like clawed hands.
“There is, however,” he adds, tilting his head at an unnatural angle, “a deviation.”
