I quickly Googled “innovative plumbing topics.” Me: Boring stuff really. Tankless water heaters. Hot water recirculation. Beautiful Accountant: Oh. Interesting. When are you back? Me: After the weekend. Might stay longer. Some of the other plumbers are talking about hanging out a bit. This was getting bad. Beautiful Accountant: Ok. Well, this is a lot, I know. I decided to blame it on the flu. Noah steered me into the bathroom. "Holy crap, Alison, this is beautiful. And you did it yourself?" I sat down on the tufted bench. "Mostly. I had someone come in to set up the plumbing. I did all the cosmetic stuff, though." I pointed at the bathtub. "And I did all the grouting, too." "Wow, baby, that's some expert grouting." He ran one finger along the seam and then reached for the taps, adjusting them until the temperature was right.

I replied, keeping my voice low and professional. "I'm here from the plumbing agency," I continued, pulling out my credentials. "Your employer contacted us regarding some issues with the plumbing in the house." The butler raised an eyebrow, his skepticism clear. "I don't recall any issues with the plumbing," he said. "Perhaps they haven't been made aware," I replied, holding my ground. "But it's important that we address these issues as soon as possible. Can I come in?" The butler hesitated for a moment before stepping aside.

It was the guard. "Did you get it?" I answered instantly. "Miss Sera..." He sounded tense. "I went to the room, but... but it's gone!" "What do you mean, gone?" I shot to my feet. "The whole sink, the faucet, the pipes underneath, all of it was ripped out!" he stammered. "There's just a big hole left in the wall. I asked the cleaning staff, and they said the second you left yesterday afternoon, Luna Catherine called in a construction crew and stood over them herself while they smashed the entire plumbing setup to pieces and hauled it off as construction waste to be burned!"
