I tried it and it didn't work, poor replacement Shey.” My heart sinks as I place the note on the table and slowly remove the newspaper. I find a dead rat lying on its back, its eyes have been covered as well and its mouth.

“They are for you.” “What?” I have gotten flowers before from Curtis but not in this proportion. Maybe this was his apology gesture for ducking out of our loving making time last night. I ask, not reaching for it. "See for yourself," he says simply. With a frustrated sigh, I take it from him.
