(Elena's POV) Pale gray morning light filters through the clinic windows, providing the perfect illumination for the morning. I'm back at the Crescent Bay Veterinary Clinic, my fingers wrapped around a coffee cup, trying to shake the exhaustion that's sunk deep into my bones. Last night doesn't really seem to have happened. A giant bleeding dog in an alley, its silver eyes set on me as if he could read my mind, and now he's stretched out on a heap of blankets in my living room. I keep reliving how he looked at me. Like he knew something. Even though it's strange to feel, I feel like he was a person.

It was like a giant's white cage and there was a huge, brown dog inside, bigger than the usual dogs. It looked like a Siberian husky but bigger, as in bigger... like a monster, no! more on like a freaking werewolf! I stepped background as the dog howled so loud.

Saffron never even read the first line of her book, and her hot chocolate was cold the next time she looked at it. She awoke when her book fell to the floor with a bump. Her breathing was fast, and she had been dreaming of Jack, who seemed to have a huge dog, which was running around him as he held her in his arms. Jack's lips were a hairsbreadth away from hers and about to kiss her when the animal barked, and she woke up.

Peter did as I asked and brought it back. "Maybe he is just a wolf-dog, and he got out?" I asked as I cleaned the wound and wrapped it. "There's no collar on him." "Not everyone collars their animals." "Just promise me you'll be smart and safe." "I promise." I said a little distractedly, closing the kennel. Just in time too. "Oh, look! He's waking up." The wolf stirred and then started. He stood up in the extra large kennel and took up nearly every inch of that space. His hackles rose and he was a bit unsteady. Though, it wasn't his size, or the intelligence of this beast that took me by surprise.

Whereas we were panting like dogs from running after them. Little cute devils! They reminded me of the dog, Buck, from the book I was reading. He was a pampered pet of a family until the day he was stolen to slave as a sled dog and suffered terribly. My heart ached everytime I read about him. Hopefully no dog would ever suffer from such fate. "So... how is it going with you and young sir?" Bella asked, bringing me out of my thoughts. "...Huh? Ah... well?" "Well?"
