Who Is in My Mother’s Skin?
I thought for a moment, swallowed my fear, and greeted her properly, "Mom."
"Mom" had brought chicken noodle soup with her. She was tall and carried herself with such grace, even in simple clothes. She was nothing like Mom, who had spent over a decade as a homemaker—always shy and lacking confidence.
She smiled softly as she walked past the two of them. Then, she scooped out the soup and fed it to me with care.
Knowing she wasn't human anymore made me hesitate, but the threatening glare in her eyes made me take a sip anyway.
