“Having to kill your own child? That’s... horrifying.”
I nodded, my heart heavy. “It’s unthinkable. But it explains so much. If parents hid their pups, some of them might have survived—grown up into what we’re dealing with now.”
Fatima leaned back in her chair, her expression troubled. “This must be what’s happening. One of those hidden pups survived, and now it’s out there, hunting.”
The thought sent a chill down my spine. If that was true, it meant this creature had likely lived its entire life in isolation, unloved and unwanted. No wonder it had turned into something monstrous.
