“What…?” She sat up straighter, and leaned forward. “Following the recent drug trafficking allegations, a tragic incident occurred at the Hayes mansion yesterday—” Evelyn’s chest tightened. “Between 3:44 PM and approximately 6:00 PM, nearly the entire Hayes family lineage was wiped out—” A sharp ringing filled her ears. Her body went cold. “The deceased include Maya Hayes—shot in the face…” Evelyn’s breath caught. “Her said to be fiance—Nathan—shot in the head…”

Hayes shouted, about to run towards me. Through my hazy eyes, I saw him ruffle for his phone and picked up the buzzing call. That lady's voice filled my ear. "Hayes, are you almost here? I'm really scared. They want to do a blood transfusion and I can't…” The rest of the words were distant for me to hear as Hayes immediately swerved and began racing down the stairs. I see. He had made his choice. I was bleeding through the head and he had made the choice of going to his mistress.

“I swear, you two are bored out of your minds. I’m leaving. If Bobby catches you, you’re dead.” Tim waved him off casually. “Bobby’s eating, he won’t come. C’mon, Hayes, let’s keep watching—this is getting good.” A while passed. I hadn’t dealt with that bastard Julian yet so how could I die first? “How did you get here?” I asked. “You weren’t familiar with the area. Driving all over… really brave of you.” “There is a driver.” “Where is your driver?” Hayes glanced at me, indifferent. “I think it’s best no third party sees your face. Avoid embarrassment later.” I gritted my teeth. “Should I thank you for your consideration?” “Unnecessary.” I smirked. “Hayes… are you single?” For a moment, he looked taken aback, then calmly said, “Yes.”

She snapped, not able to hold back anymore. “Huh,” said Hayden, raising his eyebrows in surprise. “You heard me!” She screeched. “What is your problem?!” Hayden sighed deeply. “It’s your turn,” he said ominously. “What?!” She asked. “It’s your turn. First, I almost drowned in that cave trying to get the sword while keeping those creepy swarm of undead children at bay. Second, Titan had to fight that old blood-drinking witch and dodge her parasitic plants to get the axe,” said Hayden taking a deep breath and shutting his eyes tightly.

He completed, finally letting go of my waist. I felt stupid. Useless, even. "Hayes!" I heard someone yell faintly and by the way he turned his head to look at the door, I could tell he heard it too. I glanced at the door, waiting for whoever was yelling his name to show up in the hallway. "Son of a—" Hayes muttered under his breath, running his hand through his hair. He left my side and walked away, headed for the door. I trailed behind him, curious to see what was going on and feed answers to the several questions floating around in my head.

My eyes gleamed with cold intensity as I suddenly lifted my foot and stomped down beside Scarlett Hayes, cornering her against the elevator wall. Scarlett instinctively covered her face. "What... what do you want? This is the Hayes family!" I leaned in close to Scarlett's ear, my voice chilling like a ghost from hell. "Scarlett Hayes, I initially planned to take over the Hayes family quietly, so you wouldn't be too embarrassed. But now, I've changed my mind.
